Why This Must Be Read: Because it is more than you expect it to be. There is a great deal of story here, some of it is ugly but all of it is bloody brilliant. An SG-1-like adventure without leaving earth and set in the time of the Civil War. This is long and epic and so very much of everything.

Author's Summary: Sometime after the Civil War, former Colonel Jack O'Neill becomes desperate enough to buy a slave capable of helping him get his family back from the savages that might have them. Will they find what they seek, or what they were meant to?

P.S. Reading this again I'm reminded once more of how really good this is. It is not just a wonderfully written adventure and love story but it has lovely descriptions of Aboriginal spiritual beliefs and weaves an impressively detailed picture of the time and struggles of the frontier, the challenges met by the 'whites' extending onto aboriginal territory and the grief this caused on both sides. The second and last chapters are my favourite. Do read this. You will not regret it.
P.P.S. Forgot ... umm, there's a lot of sex. :) Enjoy!

Hopefully this looks OK 'cause the Rich Text Editor I use has apparently been done away with and the preview button doesn't work.... *sigh*

Why this must be read:

For the end of our John reccing cycle this month, I bring you an AU future!John who's found his way in the Pegasus Galaxy but at a heavy price. Exiled from Atlantis, an injured John gets help from Carson as they both contemplate where their lives have led. In a world where the Wraith take everybody and John is a person without a firm home, we're left with a sense of longing for a happier times. Pilgrim Soul weaves a tale of sorrow, longing, and world-weariness that will leave you gasping. Enjoy this sad and poignant piece as it will stick you, I guarantee.

Story Summary: Carson goes offworld to treat an unexpected patient. (taken from FF.net)

Why this must be read:
The plot and characters are great. The supernatural aspects are explained so the reader is able to follow along, even though you may not have heard about the supernatural characters (the author takes some from Sandman Lucifer series and the tv show "Supernatural").

I love re-reading this story. The characters are similar to their cannon, but they have a supernatural aspect to them. In addition, you can definitely see the relationships develop between John Sheppard, Carson Beckett and Rodney McKay.
