In this AU, John has retired from the Air Force, takes up police work as a career, and moves next door to widower-Rodney McKay and his son Timothy. From there grows  one of the absolute sweetest and real McShep story I think I've ever read. Elayna makes their get together so real that I picture it as a movie while reading. And even though it's sweet, you still don't feel the cavities coming on that some kidfics can give ya. Just an absolutely wonderful get together AU for two men who have experienced pain in their past and find love/acceptance in each other. And the other beauty? This fic launches a whole universe that Elayna has played in!! Go enjoy they McShep-ness + kid + dog + cat!!
