Why This Must Be Read: A sweet, slow building fic. I really like that the author takes a trope so well used in the mcshep pairing – soldier and scientist exploring new parts of Atlantis – and does it so well. Given Parrish's botanical background, it's both infinitely appropriate and sweet that they create this little secret garden for themselves. And that they do it, without even really realizing that what their building as they catalog these seeds and watch these plants grow, is their own relationship.

I also love the way the POV moves back and forth between Lorne and Parrish.

Why this must be read:  When Daniel comes to visit Jack in Washington, D.C. and meets up with him in a small park at the height of cherry blossom time, we're treated to a beautifully evocative, both in mood and atmosphere, character vignette told from Jack's POV.  We're also given a Daniel, seen through Jack's eyes and seasoned by his time in the SGC and by both his working and personal relationships with Jack, that is subtly realized and insightful.

In my earlier rec, Sam and Daniel let their hair down pretty fast.  I realize some of you may prefer a more measured approach to their ultimate coupling so I present this stumble, not to the bedroom, but to a more solid and potentially satisfying conclusion.

Why This Must Be Read:  Sorrel deftly weaves her story in and out of canon, adding layers of probability and likelihood to Sam and Daniel's relationship.  It is not a smooth and straight path to a feather pillow landing, however, and this is what makes  her story interesting.  Their discussion of the ramifications of Sam's hallucinations during Grace is bittersweet but has the ring of truth.  You, the reader, will find it difficult to put down this 25K word tale of the evolution of friendship to love.  And, for those looking for further adventures, Sorrel has expanded Scenes to include some additional action with other future stories!  Thanks for the toy at the bottom of the cracker jack box, Sorrel!

Why This Must Be Read: I have a thing about fics where Ronon explores how Atlantis has affected him, and compares his life now to what he had before. Basically fics that explore Ronon.

I like this fic because it makes you giggle in the beginning and then has you tearing up at the end. I also really enjoyed the hints of relationship (platonic or not) between Rodney and Ronon here. Drunk Rodney is hilarious, but it's Ronon's internal monologue at the end that really hits you. They came for him when Ronon thought he was alone. - that's basically all you have to know.

Why This Must Be Read: I love Ronon's POV in this. It's both hilarious and a little naïve, lol. He discovers "gossip" but doesn't understand it, and doesn't need it to see that Sheppard and McKay are in love (even if they aren't... to begin with). His loyalty to Sheppard is awesome and so in character, and the fact that he takes it that extra step just makes me grin big. Seriously. This fic is hilariously in character.
