Why this must be read: Author's Summary - "Sheppard and the rest of his team travel to Sateda to strike up a new alliance in their fight against the Wraith, but not all is what it seems, and Sheppard soon finds himself fighting for his life." This is an AU in which Sheppard and company meets Ronon before the events of the episode Sateda (more explained in the Author's notes on the first chapter). It's a wonderfully handled "what if" that fleshes out not only what Ronon's past might have been like, but all of Sateda and it's culture. This includes Malena, who I adore in this story. And let's not forget Sheppard, of course :D Coolbreeze1 knows how to deliver some excellent H/C, and makes it a vital part of the story rather than there for the sake of it. There is excellent military Sheppard moments, and excellent Ronon/Sheppard friendship with Ronon having Sheppard's back despite hardly knowing him (and Sheppard having Ronon's).

I love a good "what-if" story, and the concept of this one really blew me away. Even if you're not a fan of AUs I would still recommend you give it a try. It may not be canon, but feels like it could have been canon (and I kind of wish it had).
