Why this must be read:  With the Earth's population decimated by the Ori plague and its survivors subjugated by the Priors, Daniel, along with Mitchell and Vala, embarks on a dangerous cross-country journey to Washington, D.C. in search of Jack.  Daniel's desperation to believe Jack is still alive and to find him is palpable, and the support and friendship of Vala and Mitchell, both struggling with their own feelings for Daniel, are both touching and poignant.  Both an entertaining adventure tale and a beautifully characterized romance, A Different Kind of Pain ultimately proves Daniel and Jack, personally and professionally, are always better together than apart.
