Why this must be read: I usually refuse to read WIPs because I worry that the author will never finish them, but Steps is a WIP doesn't bother me at all due to its very nature. Steps is basically Ruth M King asking what would have happened if Sam had never been Jack's subordinate but say, instead, a fellow SG team leader? The fic is a rewrite of the show starting from episode 1, and it's currently somewhere around season 6-7, and even if it never gets finished, each piece still works on its own. Ruth sticks to canon but wiggles around enough that it's not some boring recap of every episode, but an interesting look into what could have been.
