summary: She's pregnant, and it's complicated. (6,313 words)

I don't exactly seek out babyfic -- in previous fandoms the word "baby" in a summary used to be a safe way to make me back away slowly. But I like McKay/Carter so I checked this one out, and enjoyed it a lot. It's adorable without being saccharine, the premise is fun (and really not that crackish, all things considered) and the Sam/Rodney interaction is spot on.

"I want to register my objection to procreating with someone with whom, outside of hallucinations and the occasional," he smirked, "Idle fantasy, I've never even gotten to first base, let alone exchanged any of the necessary bodily fluids."

The smirking had started once he seemed to realise if she'd slept with an alternate version of himself, it greatly improved his own chances in that regard.

Why This Must Be Read: This story was written for apocalypse_kree and she starts out stating quite clearly that everyone but Cam is dead. There is no denying the sadness throughout the story but it is lined with so much hope and perseverance that after you're finished reading you will simply sit back and try to accurately pinpoint what it is about the story that hits that chord... And you really can't. skieswideopen writes Cameron at his very heart, how he lives, loves, and continues on no matter how much he wants to give up. You really do no want to miss this story.
