Why This Must Be Read: The back half of S3 was bursting with events that should have affected Teyla deeply, but precious little time was devoted to her actually dealing with them. Then along comes this incredible tag for "The Ark" that cuts right to the heart of what Jamus was trying to do and why that would terrify her so much. The OT4 is not incidental here; it's the shape of her team around Teyla that holds her together and brings a measure of peace (and closure) to an episode that left so many questions behind.

Why This Must Be Read:

The recent redial watch of Season 1's "Tin Man" prompted a discussion about wouldn't the NID want the robot SG-1? And I'm so glad it did because it inspired [livejournal.com profile] aelfgyfu_mead to write this hilariously awesome episode tag with Maybourne arriving just as the real SG-1 returns from Altair.

Watching the interaction of early team with early-Maybourne, complete with Hammond and Fraiser as backup is a cornucopia of delights. The timing of the dialogue is pitch perfect, and the character voices are strong. This is no crackfic, but a warm funny, lovely tag.

(yes, fig already rec'ced it in team when it was first posted, but it's short and amusing to reread and brighten your day!)

Why This Must Be Read: Because it is bloody funny, that's why. Seriously, I would not steer you wrong here. Using the time-honored tradition of Stick Figure Story Telling, [personal profile] destina neatly summarizes Seasons 1 - 8 for us, ending in a lovely AU epilogue.  Just remember my warning about the sticky liquid substances coke near your computer monitor!

Why this must be read: As the writer says, this is a tag to Mitchell's flashback/memory in Collateral Damage. Canon gives us so much angst for Cam, and once in a while it gets explored in fic in a way that feels really right. For The Peace of All is one of those stories, and it's a lovely take on Lorne, who manages competent, insightful and hot in this as well.

Summary: Circa 1802, the Mediterranean Sea. Daniel's ship is captured by Jack.

Why This Must Be Read:

AUs should take the characters out of their usual setting but still be true to them. This story does it quite lovely. There's romance between two grown-up, self-confident men without being too sweet or cloying. The details are nicely done, but do not clutter the story and only add to the atmosphere.

A story I love to re-read.

Why this must be read:
[livejournal.com profile] ltlj tells this story from the PoV of a John Sheppard who is drugged and confused and thinks he's numb from being cloned after dying and losing Atlantis. As the story slowly unfolds the reader, along with John, learns of a more sinister plot unfolding. What follows is a wonderful blending of AU's and universe elements from both SG-1 and SGA all turned into a well-crafted story. Once you finish you'll want to read it a second time to see all the little hints both you and Sheppard missed the first time around.

Why This Must Be Read: In this marvelous teamy fic, SG-1 is captured by genetically-modified natives who sense Sam's protein marker and are convinced that she's Goa'uld – or Tok'ra. Jack, without hearing, can't lead; Teal'c suffers the enraged helplessness of someone who can't defend his friends; Daniel, without the use of his hands, can't write or do anything to help the others. And Sam – poor Sam is beaten and drugged until she doesn't which way is up any more. And since the story is told wholly in her POV, the reader is equally confused, as Sam's sense of time and perception is warped and out of sync.

There's great wordbuilding and teamy goodness and courage and strength in this one, and by the time you've figured out what's happened, you'll want to go back and reread it all over again!

(Bonus – Abyssis also posted the "Undertow"- director's cut, in which the scenes are actually placed in order, rather than as Sam remembers and perceives them, plus a happy team ending. I strongly recommend you read Undertow first, but you'll probably enjoy reading this one, too.)
