Why This Must Be Read:  From Jack's initial question to Daniel that leads off the story, Biblio spins a tale that flawlessly weaves a changing relationship between a Daniel thrown off-kilter by the question and a Jack equally off his balance for having the need to ask.  The author delivers on the "warm Christmas fuzzies" she promises, as well as gifting us with that changing relationship, highlighted with a deft mix of humor, romance, heat, spot-on characterization, and pitch perfect Jack/Daniel banter.

Why This Must Be Read:  Weaving through Season 7 canon events seamlessly, Jack, for once, is the one so sure, so ready, so at ease with taking the risk and acting on the love he and Daniel have understood about each other for years.  Niamaea writes a very recognizable Jack and Daniel, made all the more real set against a backdrop of subtly descriptive imagery, canon and everyday events.  The author's pacing is superb, leavened with angst, insight and snark, as Jack states his case and leaves Daniel to come to his own certainties.  Eventually.  A thoroughly engaging and refreshing take on a Jack/Daniel first time fic.

Why This Must Be Read:
This story is part of synecdochic's Eurydiceverse- an accidental series; the one where they're all just a little not well. The author describes this story as semi-explicit because Sam's too much of a Good Girl to get as explicit as some of the E'verse stories. Plus, it's set in season 4, so they aren't yet as unwell as they will become.

What we have here is, yes, ultimately a coupling of Sam and Daniel, but there is so much going on both in the words and between the words I had to read this fic twice and I'm still sure I'm missing details. synecdochic gives us a Sam who is learning to come out of her shell and into herself, learning to understand and ask for what she needs from men and a Daniel who is much more manipulative than Sam believes or lets herself see, but uses his skills only to give Sam what he knows she needs, and if she comes out better for it, he isn't going to regret his methods.

This whole story is a fantastic character study - a slow progression of the characters drawing to their inevitable conclusion, Sam being both honest to herself and yet lying to herself - seeing reality and yet twisting it around, seeing what Daniel's doing and yet not quite believing it because that would take Daniel off the pedestal she has him on. There's way more going on here than I can possibly explain, so I just urge you to go read. Possibly more than once.

Why This Must Be Read: Watching SG-1 tag-team someone is always fun. Watching S1 Maybourne getting taken down a peg with flawless teamwork? Comedy gold!

 

When the real SG-1 come back through the Gate at the end of Tin Man, they find Colonel Maybourne, still smarting from the loss of the Tollan in Enigma, waiting to take robot!SG-1 into custody so he can literally find out what makes them tick. But in he’s in for a disappointment...
