Why This Must Be Read:
This was one of the first Ronon-centric stories that I read (circa season 2) before we'd seen the deeper glimpses of his character and his interactions with his teammates that we got in season 3, and I now think the author was positively precognitive (or maybe just more attuned to nuance than me!) since Ronon basically grew into the character depicted in this story. Back when I was indifferent to canon Ronon, this story gave me a deeper appreciation and liking for him as a character; and now that I adore canon Ronon, I love the story all the more as a carefully-drawn and wonderfully-written portrait of the aspects of him that I like best. And the language is just lovely, as the snippet under the cut-tag demonstrates.
