Why This Must Be Read: The summary says "A Grieving McKay returns to Earth" but it is really much more than that. It is told entirely from Jeannie's observations of Rodney's (and later the entire team's) grief at the loss of a a good friend and Rodney's overtures at building a relationship with his family. It's sad, it's sweet and it's one of the best Sunday episode tags that I've ever read. Read, enjoy and thank you for letting me rec for you this month.

Why This Must Be Read: It's not too often that you run into a witty prison story with epistolary notes as well as brutal guards. Luckily, the story's not terribly graphic, the dialog snaps, and the set-up is perfect. You can really believe that in this situation, John would try to be this cool and Rodney would...not.

The real beauty of the story is that while Rodney's been given paper and pen to work on translations of Ancient text that his captors want done, he uses them to pass notes back and forth with John--right up until his captors discover what's been going on.

It's an emotional rollercoaster and a really good read.
