Why This Must Be Read: A wonderful look at Elizabeth's state of mind after the events of Conversion. Yes, everyone did a story like this after the episode aired, but Melyanna did an amazing job with this. It keeps in mind hte canon state of affairs between the two characters, while all the while hinting at the possibility of... something. Which, really? Isn't that what the show sometimes seems to do? Definitely worth reading.

Why This Must Be Read: This fic heart-breakingly captures Sam's guilt over a disaster she wasn't around to prevent and her subsequent weariness as she overworks to cope. Jack's delight on finding her alive is lovely, and the way they cling to each other made me so sad for them both. It's a shortish, but lovely ficlet.

Why This Must Be Read: Poster girl for gen, here, reccing a shippy fic! Impossible Things gives us one of those rarest of gems – an original character, shipped with a character from the show, that not only works, but works absolutely beautifully.

Meet Krista Mitchell, who stopped listening to doctors the day her husband took his first steps after Lost City. We see Mitchell's struggle after his devastating crash in the Antarctic through her eyes, and her utter bewilderment – but ultimate support – at how much trouble Mitchell can get into while studying "deep space radar telemetry." There's her friendship with other SGC family members, and the silent acceptance of knowing their loved ones are somehow risking their lives on a daily basis while working under a mountain. Trust me: you will fall in love with Krista by the time you’ve finished reading this short story, and find yourself admiring the spouses and families of the SGC crew more than you ever imagined.
