This is an AU story that is very AU from Canon. John is a Priest and Rodney is Sin.

Now before any of you turn away, I have to point out that this is a subject that could have been handled very badly and resulted in a very terrible story. Instead, trinityofone was able to not only make John's reasons believable, but it was handled in such away that if you scroll through the comments you will find devout Catholics praising the delicate touch.

This is not a story for or against the Catholic Church! But one of personal discovery.

This is a story that takes a very different look at the idea of Guilt and John put together. It is a concept so well protraied that you can literally taste the emotion on the back of your tongue like a too sweet candy. I think this is the one story that I have read where I the relationship was so well put together but the story plot made me so sad that it happened.

Why This Must Be Read:

shusu's stories can always be counted on to not only be beautifully written but create their own kind of heat. It doesn't matter if the story is a PWP (het or slash) or just Gen ficlit - each one offers an insight to the characters being protraied and presented in their natural habitats or the ones created for them.

All Things is part of the Blackberry cluster of stories written about John and Vala. The entire encounter is told from John's point of view and the reader is given a glimps into John's mind at possibly one of his most vulnerable moments. The characterization is spot on and the scene itself is guarenteed to fog up a number of windows.

Why This Must Be Read: This is one of the most realistic series I've read. Everything doesn't fall neatly into place and it takes until Fortification and Seige Warfare for things to start to work. A nice mix of angst, plot, emotion sex.

My final Sam rec is another one of the many great stories to come out of samcarterfic. This is an entertaining, silly, wonderful romp of an adventure from a first time SG-1 author.

All heroes have their weaknesses. Superman has his kryptonite. Indiana Jones has his snakes. Brandifer suggests a weakness for Samantha Carter that leads to hilarious results in the midst of a lighthearted adventure tale. (The opening references to "Hee Haw" already shows this isn't your average SG-1 adventure in tone).

I admit I questioned a couple of characterization choices, like Sam answering a call of nature unarmed in the middle of a mission, but the resulting punchline was worth Sam's small sacrifice to the plot here. The IMPORTANT characterization aspect brandifer caught spot on was the banter and team interaction of all our intrepid heroes. I hope she writes more in this fandom.

Go and end 2006 with a chuckle, because I dare you not to laugh at least once while reading this story.
