Why This Must Be Read:
Ever since Shane first posted this story, as a sequel to an AU post-ep for Epiphany (Fractured), though this is slightly less of an AU, I've revisited it time and again, and I don't tend to do that with a great many stories. AITWSFA is a beautiful, tender piece of angsty erotica that should definitely be added to the bookmarks of any Sheppard/Weir 'shipper old enough to read it.

He'd missed her the time he'd been gone. He'd missed everyone else too, of course, but he hadn't realized just how much he'd missed Elizabeth until he'd stepped back through the Stargate for the first time in nearly a year, saw her standing there, and suddenly wanted nothing more than for her to hug him like she had after his unexpected return from what was supposed to have been a suicide mission.

Hello, I'm the rec'cer for Rodney this month!

Rec Category: Rodney McKay
Pairing: None
Category: Gen, Drama
Warning: None
Author on LJ: [personal profile] sholio
Author's Website: FF.Net account
Link: Old Soldiers Die Hard

Why This Must Be Read:

One of the few really good writers on FF.Net, Sholio is a master at both long, plotty stories, and shorter character pieces. Old Soldiers Die Hard is one of the latter. In this story, Rodney McKay is his usual arrogant, annoying self; his character is not romanticised or softened in any way, yet still manages to be sympathetic, especially as the events surrounding the story are slowly revealed. The outsider point of view of the story is what really makes it though, with her view of Rodney changing slowly throughout the piece as she sees beyond his bitter exterior to his warm marshmallow center. Ok, not exactly; but another great thing about this story is how it avoids all such tropes and cliches effortlessly. Just read it already!

Summary: The old guy in Room 30B was about the most disagreeable human being that the nurses had ever met. But he did get visitors -- including a retired Air Force Colonel.

Rec Cateogry: Sam/Cam
Pairing: Sam/Cam
Category: Angst, Romance.
Warnings: None
Author on lj: [livejournal.com profile] helsinkibaby

Link: If we sit here forever and the fish don't bite
Why this must be read: This is utterly heart breaking. It deals with Sam and Cameron’s new relationship, and how they both deal with Sam’s previous feelings for Jack. My heart broke for Cam at the beginning! Perfect, just perfect.

Rec Category: Radek Zelenka
Pairing: None
Category: Gen, Hurt/Comfort, Team, Character Study
Warning: Set during Season 2
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author's Website: Cybersyd's FF.N Account
Link: Posthumous Part of the Scene

Why This Must Be Read:

I don't normally read Gen. I'm more into reading about relationships, the build-up to one or the destruction of one, but in its own way, this brilliant story by cybersyd42 is a story of relationships. It is a poignant character study of Radek Zelenka and the team of SGA-1, where Zelenka is injured off-world. The prose is lovely, the interactions are believable and intriguing, and I promise you will enjoy this fic from start to finish.
