Why This Must Be Read: An oldie but a goodie, this story has been on my hard drive forever. I always felt that a certain linguist/archaeologist was devalued on the show, especially around seasons four and five. This fic shows a Daniel that is needed and wanted and APPRECIATED, thank you very much. I suppose that's why I held onto it so long. That... and the story is smart and in character and it's fun, dammit.

Why This Must Be Read: Tallulah Rasa reigns as one of the queens of gen fic. Her stories range from light humor to painful character self-analysis without missing a beat. Expect her stories to contain a strong flavor of Daniel, which is yet another plus in my personal opinion. :)

This fic is a particularly moving one. Nothing much happens, technically; SG-1 are holed up in a cave, chased there by natives after Daniel is shot. It's just the four of them, talking as they assess the situation and determine what to do next. Yet the characterization feels so right that you can practically see the scene unwinding in front of you, and, like Daniel, the reader has no choice but to sit back and enjoy the influences of one thing on another.

Take the time to explore her page for other gems. Some of my personal favorites are on her "failure" page, particularly the two "psychiatric evaluation" stories. You'll find it well worth it.

Why This Must Be Read: Aurora Novarum's stories, for the most part, are those rare gems: really good-quality stories, told from the POV of a minor or original character without detracting from the main characters that we want to read about. This particular story does not fit that category, unless you want to decry the lack of good Teal'c fic which makes Teal'c practically a minor character too!

This story takes place right after Serpent's Venom, when Teal'c is still recovering from his terrible ordeal. He finds himself wrestling with what he perceives as his friends' doubt in his abilities, as well as his own frustration with his slow healing. The team gates to a planet on a joint mission with SG-7 and find themselves fighting old enemies and demons, in both the literal and figurative sense. Lots of team-y goodness, both in terms of action and moral support, and Teal'c getting his mojo back. What more could you want?

Hmmm... How about more Teal'c fic? This story, after all, was written as part of the Teal'c Ficathon!

Why This Must Be Read:
We all know there was a special connection between Daniel and Janet, whether you want to look at in the context of friendship or just plain ship. The connection in this story is plain to see, as Janet comes to see Jack before he heads off to rescue Daniel in Honduras.

This is a short, almost sharp story, taking place at the beginning of the second part of Evolution. Daniel obviously isn't there, but he serves as the link between Jack and Janet. I classify this solidly as a Janet story, even though the fic is entirely in Jack's POV - and as an aside, Kellifer is excellent at giving us a clear portrayal of Janet's thoughts and emotions even as the story is told exclusively by Jack. We get a lot of vibes in this short fic, and they're all good ones, especially the zinger of the final line.

Kellifer has written several other Janet stories, and most of those are much more shippy than this one. All good, like all of Kellifer's fics. Take the time for some serious reading. You'll enjoy.
