I'd normally be hesitant about recc-ing a drabble, but janedavitt packs more implications into 100 words than you would think possible. This is espresso fic: tiny and and dark and hot.

Why This Must Be Read: Because it deals with the three main characters in new places and new ways. They're back on Earth but somehow the mood of the story is unique, changing their behaviour and point of views subtly. It's as if you get a glimpse of their otherness, themselves let free for a time and able to connect due to that. The pace is slow but sure, developing them all wonderfully and ending on a sad but sweet note.
