Why This Must Be Read: One of the strong points in Roxie’s stories is her ability to create strong settings and cultures to frame the story with, and well-realized OCs to populate it. But don’t worry- interesting as her OCs are, this story belongs to Daniel, believe me. Here, we can see Daniel doing the three things he does best: learning about a new culture, trying to save people, and getting himself hurt- hurt badly, in the case of this story, which has a slightly macabre twist.

This is also a longer story, at 430kb. But the plot never lets up. The plot, in this case, involves a prophecy from another planet… and we all know how well those usually work out.

Why This Must Be Read: This story takes place just before Thor's Hammer in season 1. Where Speaking O'Neill by Jaz shows what Jack & Daniel's friendship had become by season 8, this story is set during the early stages of their friendship. Biblio does a fantastic job of showing a simple but emotional moment between these two friends. As Jack reaches out to Daniel, he's also wondering if he's doing the right thing. Jack is essentially Jack as he was in the early days of the show. Daniel, too, is written perfectly as he was on the show in the early episodes. In this story, Daniel is hesitant, stubborn, and needy, but not babyish or childish.
