Why This Must Be Read: (Sequel to Cards on the table) This fic is a post-meridian fic, it fills you with emotions from beginning to end- and through reading it you can completely identify with how Janet must have been feeling. The characterisation of Beckett is… well…fabulous. The fic leaves you believing that was at the SGC at this point in time, and that he and Janet had something more… If you aren't so keen on Daniel/Janet this fic gives you the Carson/Janet relationship with less of the Daniel/Janet relationship implied (unlike the first part of this fic). This fic can be read as a stand alone post-meridian fic, the Janet/Daniel relationship can be read as nothing more than friendship or as something more- which is one of the beauties of Helinkibaby's writing.
The story focusses on Carson, Janet and their new and fragile relationship. Enjoy!:)
Snippet: "Janet’s lips curl up into a smile that’s distinctly bitter, a rarity on that lovely face and a sight that Carson would be quite happy never to see again. "If it included watching Daniel convulsing one minute, the next turning into a beam of white energy before disappearing completely?" she asks, and his eyes open wide, because that’s exactly what it consists of, "Then you can believe it."
