This one is a reworking of "Cold Lazarus" which postulates that when the crystal-being examined Jack after he had been knocked cold, the greatest source of his pain was that he could not express his love for his linguist. What would it have done to help Jack then?

It's not a perfect story...I think she feminizes Daniel a bit, and I'm not fond of that, but I like her characterization of the crystal-being, and it's definitely worth reading.  And besides, you can't get more "Other" and still stay in the slash category, now can you?  Enjoy.
