Why This Must Be Read:  It's fairly early in cannon; although it doesn't exactly say, I'm pretty sure it's Season Two. Daniel is feeling a lot of self-doubt about his place on the team, and his vow to save Sha're. Into this mess, steps the Consortium. Eager to find a way to take advantage of the new technology they've just learned about called the Stargate, and the opportunities it seems to present to take advantage of these new aliens, the Goa'uld. And of course, what better way to get the info they need than to kidnap the man who opened the Gate, and knows these aliens intimately? This is where Krychek steps in. His job: to kidnap Daniel Jackson, and keep him off balance, and doubting his own "loyalties."
