A Not-So-Modest Proposal by Reccea (NC-17)

Rec Category: John Sheppard
Character: John Sheppard/Rodney McKay
Category: Humor, slash, romance, first time
Warning: Slash
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] reccea
Author's Website: None that I could find
Link: Part one, part two

Why This Must Be Read: Because of course Rodney would propose this way--completely out of the blue and as a business arrangement--because it's much safer than actually coming straight out with "I love you."

John's so much more oblivious than he thinks (everybody coming out to him after DADT is rescinded slayed me), and the relationship that he has with Rodney is both more and less complicated than he knows or is willing to admit out loud. Plus, Rodney gives him some really sweet 40th birthday presents (not all of which are tangible). *happy sigh*

Snapshot by sdraevn (PG)

Rec Category: Teal'c
Pairing: mild hints of Cameron/Carolyn and Vala/Daniel UST, otherwise gen
Category: Humour, friendship, team
Warnings: none
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] sdraevn
Author's Website: Untitled
Link: Snapshot

Why This Must Be Read:

Because it's just another day in the infirmary for SG-1 (New Flavor). Because Teal'c has a camera-phone, no mercy, and O'Neill's number on speed-dial. Because Sam is right and he really does get cooler by the day:

Teal'c was back on the phone. "Indeed. Once again it was by pure chance that I was not involved in the more humiliating aspects of the mission."

Rec Category: Hurt/Comfort

Pairing: No pairing, Jack and Daniel friendship
Category: Jack/Daniel Friendship, Hurt/Comfort, Humor
Warning: The author gives a cuteness warning, which I agree with. *g* The PG-13 rating is for language only; otherwise I'd rate it G. The author says that this story is gen, but can be read as pre-slash, though I didn't notice any hint of anything romantic or sexual between Jack and Daniel in this story. If childish Jack turns you off, you might not like this story.

Why This Must Be Read: This is a delightfully humorous story about Jack and Daniel in season 9. One of the things I loved about this story was that it was a turnaround on many Jack and Daniel hurt/comfort fics. In this story, it's Jack who's injured and Daniel who comforts him. There's no shoulder patting or crying and hugging. Daniel swoops in and uses his anthropological skills to figure things out and solve the problems.

The Guardian by Arren (PG-13)

Pairing: no pairing

Warning: No warning

Why This Must Be Read: I have a special fondness for episode tags for The First Ones, because there was so much left unsaid and unknown at the end of the episode. This story focuses on what happened after Daniel was rescued--the trip back to the gate. Sam provides most of the comfort in this story, but everyone is overly concerned about Daniel. It's a fun story to read after watching some of the rather antiseptic episodes in season 4 because it goes in the opposite direction, focusing on concern and care for Daniel, more than making up for the lack of it in the episode.

Why This Must Be Read: Jack and Daniel seek comfort in each other after a particularly difficult mission. This is a short, simple story that cuts right to the heart.
