Why This Must Be Read: I know there are hundreds of ep tags for Within the Serpent's Grasp / The Serpent's Lair, but this one is an excellent character study of Jack O'Neill!

Izhilzha jumps from one intense moment of the episode to the next, concentrating on those crucial moments when Jack was faced with awful choices or impossible decisions, and giving us a glimpse into the grim mindset that allowed him to keep going. It's bleak, and pragmatic, and narrowly focused… and quintessentially Jack.

In a military op, you can’t anticipate every situation. So they teach you one simple rule: Roll with the punches.
