Why This Must Be Read:

Here is a story that contains my two favorite things: history and language, with a highly original narrative and beautiful writing.

The story is set far into the future and the people, their customs and their language are so foreign, it took me several reads to truly appreciate all the small nuances and to recognize the fragments of history that the main character Adamne-So refers to.

The despair of Sheppard and McKay, who are thrown into a time and a world they do not belong to and Adamne's curiosity and wonder at these two strangers who have walked right out of myth, are beautifully interwoven.

Summary: She knows Colonel Sheppard is famous for disobeying orders, but Susan and her team are nobodies. Just random faces in uniforms that she doubts Colonel Sheppard could put names to.

Why This Must Be Read:

This story was originally written for the sga-flashfic's Cake or Death challenge.

The main character, Corporal Susan Daniels, is realistic and likable and the story gives us a nice look at the everyday life of a Marine on Atlantis and the interactions between the members of the expedition. Also, there's cake.

Why This Must Be Read:

After contact is permanently lost with Earth, the Atlantis survivors must build new lives in the Pegasus Galaxy. In a collection of stories from different POV's, the details of their trials and triumphs are beautifully told, with starring roles for our heroes, McKay and Sheppard. Their relationship threads throughout the stories building slowly to a sweet ending.

A quick note, don't go searching for Part I - the author notes that would be the unwritten story of when the Ancients lived in the city.
