Why this must be read:

This is a most excellent fic, that delves into the world of the Asgard. I particularly love the way eve11 makes use of a spare and almost stripped back way of writing to really reinforce the sense that Thor and the other Asgard are truly another species. That they are so distant and so alien that we can only just begin to understand them.

This fic was written for the sg1teamficathon and it's wonderful to see them react with such wide-eyed awe at a civilization that is at the pinnacle of technological achievement, but also strangely hollow at the core.

Why This Must Be Read: In this corner, Teal'c: a man who turned his back on a lifetime, and has to struggle to reconcile the cultural mores of decades with the contradictions of the expectations of the Tau'ri. And in this corner, Sam: early S1 Sam with that chip on her shoulder, offering respect without question and disappointed in what she perceives as a lack in return.

Fantastic insight into the backstory that affects Teal'c's perception of women, with superb Teal'c POV throughout the fic. We get honest conversation, with unexpected gifts offered and accepted, and very much in character for them both. Equality is a great look at how the friendship of Sam and Teal'c began way back at the very beginning.

Fig Newton takes some of the most defining moments in the early relationship between Daniel and Teal’c and, within the frame of the end of FIAD, walks us movingly and mercilessly through a set of what-ifs and if-onlys. What if Teal’c had chosen to betray Apophis on Abydos instead of Chulak? What if Daniel had refused to destroy the Hammer? In a maze of dreams and almost-memories, an unconscious Daniel and a meditating Teal’c test the idea that the universe is unfolding as it should. I'd excerpt it for you, but like an epic poem, there's no way to do it justice. Just go read it.
