Why This Must Be Read: This was one of the early stories that I read in this fandom, and still a favorite (after I rediscovered it just recently while searching for good fic to rec for this category). Rodney has to talk a drugged Sheppard through his hallucinations -- while they're both trapped on the side of a cliff, inches from the abyss. The writing is spare and beautiful, and the dialogue is great, alternating between funny and touching as Rodney works through some of his own issues while trying to convince a delirious Sheppard not to jump to his death.

Why this should be read:

A haunting and lovely story by [livejournal.com profile] kellifer_fic written for the 2007 [livejournal.com profile] sg1teamficathon. This apocafic story is set in a calm moment between battles. The Season Ten team + Jack O'Neill are camped together on the side of a defeated Cheyenne Mountain planning a way to save the day even when the odds are against them.

Kellifer shifts POV to show the camp from each team member's perspective. The timeline is not consecutive, adding to the appropriate off-kilter feeling of a story taking place at the end of the world, but there are enough physical cues for a reader to know when things are happening.

Her writing has almost a snapshot quality, giving clues and insights on each of the team members and their views about each other. The lightness and camaraderie of SG-1 even in the face of destruction make the story shine. The cliffhanger ending will arrest you.
