Hello all, medie here.

Don't worry, you didn't do anything wrong! I am not here to browbeat!

I'm here because angelsgracie is taking a much needed hiatus from running the community. It's a big job to sit in the top chair of this place and can be trying so, she gets a vacation and I get a nervous breakdown. Go me!

Remember how she said the beginning of the year will bring about some changes? Here they are.

1. Categories Have Moved

The categories that will be shifting to the 'Other' category are BDSM, Angst, and Action/Adventure in the Genre section. In the Pairing section, we'll be moving John Sheppard/Aidan Ford, John Sheppard/Ronon Dex, Rodney McKay/Ronon Dex, Cameron Mitchell/Carolyn Lam, Daniel Jackson/Janet Fraiser, and Teal'c/Samantha Carter.

These guys *can* be recced but now you must request them under the Other for their Pairing. So Het: Other for Daniel/Janet and Slash: Other for Rodney/Ronon. That kind of thing.

If you want them to have their own categories again? We need a few months in advance of volunteers. We need to know there's going to be people to rec them! (That goes for all categories by the way. You make me VERY relieved when I can look and see we're squared away for several months worth of volunteers and bless certain pairings, you never disappoint! *waves at Jack/Daniel and Sheppard/Mckay)

2. New Categories

Femslash No longer will f/f pairings be recced under Slash. They'll be now recced here instead so volunteer for this one if you wish to rec Gateverse f/f period.

Teyla/Sora
Elizabeth/Teyla
Sam/Vala

These categories are on a trial basis right now. They succeed or fail depending on how many volunteers we have for them. Keep that in mind.


3. Regular Reminders

angelsgracie went over this last month but I'm doing it again in MedieSpeak.

If you've recced for crack_van then you know that usually they have volunteers lined up MONTHS in advance. You wait until the end of the month there to rec for Stargate and you WILL be waiting months on end. I just signed up and the earliest I'll get in is March and that's fast!

The point is every month I go to check and see who's ready to rec and who's not and I would love, love, LOVE to see multiple volunteers waiting. You will not get to choose what month you get, it's how the dice fall and the cookie crumbles which determines it, but PLEASE sign up months in advance. The worst that will happen is you'll have to say "Sorry, I can't do it this month"

If that happens? I promise I won't drag you out back and beat you senseless. I'll say "Okay, I'll check back with you next month" and that is that.

Having enough volunteers is crucial to keeping categories active. If we move a category to inactive status? It's not for our lack of trying that it happens.

The links are always up at sgrecclaims to volunteer and that's that!

And guys? Space out your recs. I know, I know, sometimes you forget. This is true. Sometimes you get sick. That's also true. But that's not every month so try not to leave them all for like the last day/week of the month?

Less headache for our taggers and the people watching. If they're not reading the recs, what's the point right?

November Recs

This is the holidays so we haven't been paying a *TON* of attention but we do know you've been reccing fairly steadily and YAY! Thank you for that! The comm runs on your recs so thank you for being so faithful with them.

Now, bring on January...

Which means if you've forgotten to volunteer? *shooes* Go do it or I really will bring the browbeat!

Commenting here since I think comments are disabled on the categories listing. Previously, "Threesome," "Het: Other," and "Slash: Other" were not part of the pairings/friendship categories. (At least, I haven't previously been tagging anything without a slash, e.g. "Jack/Sam Friendship," I tag. "Het," I don't.)

Have these been moved? Or are they new?

I don't want to seem like I'm complaining but that's 22 categories I'll be tagging -- almost 1/2 the total number of categories. Could we possibly shift either those 3 categories (or the friendship categories) to a different group to come closer to division into roughly equal thirds? What do you think?

Emailing is always preferable but since you commented here, I'll respond here. But any further questions you can reach me through my LJ addy. That one goes to my main email anyway.

by mine and angelsgracie's approximation, we removed six pairing categories which means they won't be tagged any longer and added back three. Which means you have three less categories to tag than you did before. femslash is a genre which means it won't fall under yours at all.

But if you're feeling overwhelmed with things and all, we can talk about changes in an email.

***hides head in shame**** I'm still trying to get the hang of this LJ thing and the commnity thing as well. I **did** get a few recs in, but I can't remember the minimum amount we are supposed to rec. I do want to volunteer and will hopefully do a better job of it.
