Speaking O'Neill by Jaz (PG)
Speaking O'Neill by Jaz
Rec Category: Jack & Daniel Friendship
Pairing: Jack & Daniel (friendship)
Category: Episode Tag (for New Order)
Warning: No warnings, but spoilers through New Order (Season 8); The author rates this story PG, but I might even give it a G rating.
Author on LJ: I don't know.
Author's Website: Jaz's page at Stargate Fan
Link: Speaking O'Neill
Why This Must Be Read: This story captures the Jack & Daniel friendship with characterizations that are spot-on, with banter and dialogue that "sound" like the characters, and with just the right amount of emotion and humor to make it uniquely Jack and Daniel. This is a feel-good kind of story that will make you chuckle, perhaps get a very slight bit misty-eyed, and then give you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside that leaves you feeling happy about just about everything. It's one of my all-time favorite stories of any kind. I hope you'll all enjoy it, too.
P.S. This is my first fic rec. Please let me know if there's anything I didn't do quite right. Sorry about the goof of sending the other message before I'd put anything into it.

My main worry is the actual reviewing part. In real life when I try telling people about a wonderful story I read, I normally seem to make them want to run far away from the story instead of reading it. And i think that fear tranlates to online fic reviews too. So I feel that the less said is better. but everyone here seems to write these really long reviews.

And yes, I was so nervous posting for the first time! :-)
I was also worried about the reviewing part. I even wrote to
Anyway, I'm new at this, too, but I, personally, don't mind shorter reviews. Once I get going, I tend to say too much about most things, so I don't know how I'll do overall. Speaking O'Neill is one of my favorite stories, though, so probably the easiest one I'll write.

The good news, is that since no one else volunteered to take this category they can't really complain if they don't like my reviewing style. Not that I'm going to do a crappy job on purpose. I just don't want to do a disservice to the stories I'm recommending.
but anyway good luck finding three more stories this month. :) I look forward to reading what you recommend.

Exactly! LOL As you said, though, it's hard to think of what to say about a story without giving too much away or making the story sound stupid when it's a really, really good story.
Another thing is that sometimes when I try to give detailed feedback and pick out something that I felt really made the story stand out, I say it in a way that the author then thinks I didn't like it! LOL I don't know why that happens, because I think I'm saying why I *like a story, but it just doesn't read that way or something. So that's another reason that, like you, I tend not to say too much about the details of a story any more. :-)
Thanks for the wishes. Good luck to you, too! :-) (Also, I love your icon.)
