Why This Must Be Read:
This is another story with spoilers of Teyla's storyline for season four. Lilac_way's characterization of Teyla is lively and rings true, and gives wonderful vision of Teyla as a soon-to-be mother, warrior, friend and lover.
Teyla's final months of pregnancy are weighed by the hours she doesn't sleep versus the minutes she spends dreaming restlessly. She can never quite find a comfortable position in her bed. Her back hurts, and reliably, once she finds a comfortable spot and starts to drowse, the child (her child) starts to move. He turns languidly in her belly, stretching arms and legs in the close confinement of her body. At times he pummels her with tiny fists and feet.
Sometimes he hiccups. Teyla laughs in her nest of bedding, feeling the rhythmic blip, like someone flicking her with a fingertip. She sings to him then, songs she learned from her mother, her father, from Charin. She tells him he is from a proud people. He hears stories of his father and their childhood on Athos.
