I love this fic. It has a hidden depth to it that really shows how vulnerable Sam is during these particular moments. It's a very emotional fic that shows how their relationship has devleoped over the years. It also shows just how much they trust each other, especially Sam and how she's willing to let Daniel see her like this.

Why This Must Be Read:

This is a nice, little fic that deals with the events of The Scourge (the bug one, but there's no bugs in this...just in case you're squeamish) with just Sam and Daniel. It's just Sam taking a break from babysitting the IOC members that are with them in the cave. She goes out to just talk with Daniel and tease him a little bit. The dialogue and characterization between the two of them is just wonderful. This something I wish we would have seen more during the episode.

Why This Must Be Read: My favorite kind of story, one that combines a long, layered plot of SGC action with nuanced characterizations and interactions. (Technically the third in the author's The Loosely Bound Series, this story stands perfectly well on its own.) On one level, this story reads as a great team fic as our four struggle not only to survive offworld but to help the displaced aliens they encounter. The caring and friendship these four hold for each other shines through. (And if, like me, you are not a Het fanfic reader, the Daniel/Sam here is very much about liking and friendship, rather than lust or romance. It is also not a large part of the story, definitely not its focus.) On another level, Unwanted Attention is a strong Daniel Jackson character piece, one that affirms Daniel's place on this team in his every action even as he struggles with his sense of self in the face of unwanted attention.

Why This Must Be Read:

Surface Tension is a story that features Sam wonderfully. Her friendship with Daniel is a central thread and the other team members are in it as well. The first part is about a Sam that has lost everything and you feel it. You, along with her start to question if this is real. I was waivering on giving the warning about character death because it is an integral part of the story, yet there's a twist.

Once she's rescued we get glimpses of her friendship with the rest of her teammates, especially Daniel. Yet, she still doesn't really know what to believe until the very end.

This is a story definitly worth a few minutes of your time, even it keeps you thinking about what is real.

Why This Must Be Read:

I was making my way trhough my friends list this afternoon when I found this one which I somehow missed. It's a lovely fic with just Sam and Daniel in bed (no sex, so...). It shows what I love about this pairing, that they can just be themselves together. They're just similar with their pursuit of knowledge and have the same desires.

"Hmm," Daniel mumbled from behind her. She felt him shift under the sheet and slide closer to her. While stifling a yawn, he leaned into her, draped his arm around her waist, and rested his chin on her shoulder. "What is this?" he asked sleepily.

Sam grabbed his arm and tucked it under her own, making sure to keep him close, before tilting the magazine so that he could see. "They're not even close. Do you see this?" She jabbed her finger at the fifth paragraph on the third page. "They're still speculating between the Inverse-Compton theory and the Synchrotron Radiation theory."

This is an episode tag from Ex Deus Machina. The author takes the "Not Exactly" line and makes it into a Sam/Daniel story. And this has a terrific Sam. It's a Sam that now knows what she wants despite her previous partners. This is PWP that has actual depth. The two of them meld together perfectly in this fic.

Why This Must Be Read:

This is just a nice little story with Sam and Daniel on Atlantis. It's also got a great Sam POV and we get to see through her eyes, the Daniel that just delights in learning and exploring. It's stuff like this that I love about this pairing. They have so many similarties that they just connect, and a lot of things don't even need to be said out loud, as this fic demonstrates.

Daniel stood on the balcony of Atlantis, overlooking the ocean and the city sprawling to the West and there was such a simple joy on his face that it pained Sam to note that she’d been so used to the serious and damaged Daniel, she’d almost forgotten what this looked like.

Why This Must Be Read:

This fic is a tag for the episode The Light. It's different from some of the other fic that deal with this episode because Sam and Daniel are not out of character and blaming it on the effects. Instead, they're just having fun with their free time. Also, the descriptions of their enviroment are rich and filled with details that really bring it to life. This is really a wonderful Sam/Daniel friendship fic.

After a long time, when Sam felt like her heart had possibly changed its rhythm to match the ebb and flow of the tide, Daniel sighed. He said, "I should probably get back. I have a lot of translating to do."

Sam huffed and grabbed his hand to prevent him from jumping down. "Yeah," she said, "I'll bet it's really important stuff, like yesterday when you translated the instructions on the Goa'uld equivalent of a vibrating bed."

Daniel shrugged, but there was a little grin around the corners of his mouth. "You're just annoyed because you didn't have any change to try it out." He turned his hand, breaking her hold on him, but didn't move to leave. He stared out at the water for awhile, and finally said, "It *is* nice to be outside for a change."

Why This Must Be Read:

The Gate of Moria takes place after New Order. It's a drunk Sam and Daniel (with Teal'c in the first part of the story) dealing with Jack's promotion. The drunken sex is totally believeable because it's not perfect between the two them and it's still carries traces of uncertainness over the events. The sequel, Like Most Riddles, is a great read. It was written before The Gate of Moria so it still contains some of that uncertainness and sadness that was carried into prequel (I can only hope that what I just wrote made sense). It also has some really hot sex in the second part of the story.

This lovely little fic finds Sam and Daniel standing on the balcony of Atlantis together. It's told from Sam's POV, as she simply revels in seeing Daniel so happy once again with all the "meaning of life stuff." She's right, of course, that we haven't seen that special light in Daniel's eyes for too long.

The final image of Daniel giving Sam a tactile understanding of his awed delight nearly moved me to tears. Kellifer's short stories always pack a powerful punch, and this one is no exception.

I found this one late last night and enjoyed it immediatly. It takes place during the episode Ethon and it deals somewhat with Daniel's emotions during that episode. I like how when Sam tries to be with him, he really doesn't make any attempt to stop her because it's what they've both wanted. It's much more than a PWP, although the shower sex is good as well.

This isn't quite a threesome (yet), but it's definitely more than a twosome. Very much a season 9 fic, with a battle-hardened Daniel, playful Teal'c, and smart tough sexy Sam full of adrenaline and desire, and a little fooling around in the SGC gym:

The years wrap comfortably around them here. These are her unruly brothers, her best friends, and men who stop women in their tracks across galaxies and they are hers. The thought makes her feel daring and dangerous and turned on as hell. The thought makes her sloppy. Daniel catches her in the jaw hard enough for her knees to go buttery, but instead of fighting it, she goes with it, sliding to the mat and scissoring Daniel’s legs out from underneath him.

I choose this one because it conveys a deep friendship between Sam and Daniel. But yet, by the end of the fic, you feel that it's changed even knowing what will happen in the episodes that took place after this fic.
