Why This Must Be Read: When I read this story, I knew I wanted to read more about Cassandra Fraiser.  She is strong, resourceful, desperate, angry, and scared out of her mind by the events that are the structure of what is a fantastic character study as well as a gripping end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it tale.  Stay a little while in Cassie's World.  Bring tissues.

I think this is one of the first apocafics I read, and it's still one of my favorites. Both heartbreaking and wonderful all at the same time. Even non-apocafic fans should read it all the way through...really! It's sad in parts, but really really really good.
