Why These Must Be Read: These five short stories are beautifully written, perceptive, and moving, written from the perspective of the first chaplain of the SGC. Partly they're about her adjusting to the Stargate program, and partly about those in the program adjusting to her. The stories are mostly fairly tied into canon, but there are enough details in them as the various characters discuss their issues with the chaplain that I had no difficulty following along, even though I'm rusty on SG1 canon. The final one is especially powerful - it really stayed with me.
Author's Note about the series: Sheila Pierce is an original female character. She's the SGC's chaplain. Her denomination is Unitarian. She holds a Master's Degree in Anthropology and a Ph.D. in Pastoral Counseling. For both degrees, she needed to study languages and her specialties are Sanskrit, Ancient Greek, Aramaic, Hebrew, Farsi, and Latin.
