::grins:: I think I hold the record for sheer numbers back in... 2006? When I went just a leetle overboard when I was reccing Daniel and stopped at 25.

No, there is a not an official limit. Rec as many as you like. And you come always come back to rec more in another month, if you don't get a chance to highlight all your favorites!

Does the author have to be on Dreamwidth?

Of course not. If the author isn't on DW (or LJ, or whatever) just type "none" or "unknown." The most important link is the story :) but the point of adding links to journals and webpages/indexes/AO3/etc. is to allow readers to find more fic by the same author.

Thanks. I've tried three times to post a rec this morning, but the site won't take the HTML I copied from your cut and paste nor will it save an edited version inserting all the HTML by hand. I give up.
