September reccers: volunteer post

Hi there - I've been looking up stories and trying to figure out what category this will be.

I was going to call it the Goa'uld category, although that isn't always the main theme of the story, so probably better to call them AU and I'll explain in the intro. I'll be reccing stories in which one of the main characters is taken over by a gou'ald (or a tok'ra, although most of them are goa'uld stories).

So . . . yeah. AU category (with an alien symbiote twist) !

That sounds like a fun idea, and I'm really enjoying the way you're stretching your reccing wings (so to speak) and exploring new themes and ideas each month. :)

Not sure if it qualifies as AU, though, which usually suggests either a drastic (permanent) fork in the road or a different beginning point. How about drama, or angst, or hurt/comfort, or horror?

Of course, if you do feel that AU is the best fit, than go for it, says I!

Well the linking theme is being taken over by a goa'uld type alien symbiote, so maybe I should call it Goa'uld.
Do you think I could sneak 1 or 2 tok'ra ones in as well? They're pretty close relatives after all, but it is listed as a separate category.

I think it's your choice, really. :)

The categories are places where fans can find fics of a similar theme. "Ooooh, I love AU fics! Let me check out the category." "I can never find good Teal'c fic. Let's see what's listed there." So if your story fits a good category, it's an extra way for readers to find their favorites.

You could always rec both categories! Then you can assign "Goa'uld" and "Tok'ra" as appropriate. I can stretch the two-per-category rule if you need.
