I never take suggestions as criticims. I've had this comm for years now, and I've learned a lot by running it. The main one is that the best resource are the people who are members of it.

The good news for you (*g*) is that you don't have to check other categories to see if a story you want to rec has been rec'ced. If you're rec'cing, say Jack/Daniel, you only need to check that category in memories. If it isn't there, you're free to rec it! It's undaunting to think about checking all the categories. So no stressor there!

As for your tag suggestion, I will take it under advisement and talk to [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and the volunteers to who the tagging and see what they think! ;)
