Why This Must Be Read: This is a brilliant story period.
It is a three part series which unfortunately still a WIP. But that shouldn't distract you from the brilliance and originality of this tale.
It is very dark, angsty and full of grim hopeless determination. A chilling tale. A horror story of the finest tradition. I enjoyed it very much, even as I shuddered and cringed. But yet the way Xander's character has grown and still managed to maintain his humanity and like-ability helps keep the angst at bay.
Let's not forget the interaction between Xander and Rodney. Just about perfect; by turns touching, hilarious, cute and serious.
“Then… why don’t you come back with us to Atlantis?” Rodney asked hopefully.
Xander had an unreadable expression on his face. “No.”
“What?” Rodney was surprised to be shut down so fast. Xander didn’t even seem to think about it. “Why not?”
“I like being able to roam without having to ask for someone’s permission.” Xander said, looking away.
“But-but…” Rodney tried to think of something convincing. “It’s dangerous, you know.”
“No way! Really?” Xander exclaimed, his eyes wide with surprise. “You know, I would have never guessed that, what with the WRAITH and all.”
