The Junior Series by Junior (PG)

Rec Category: Humor

Warning: Erm, there's character death of a sort but as a joke.

Junior Solves a Mystery
Junior Fixes a Problem- Season 9! Note that there are slashy and femslashy overtones to this installment.

Why This Must Be Read: A gentle send-up of the "obsessed with a character" fan fic, this series of four short stories tells of SG-1's adventures through the point of view of Junior, Teal'c's Mighty Symbiote of Impressive Size.

Behold the Daniel Upon Whom the Golden Light of Perfection Shines and the Samantha of Unwavering Devotion and the Big Blue Eyes, Junior's future host and queen, respectively. This leaves Jack and Teal'c to be the neglected and unloved characters so necessary to an obsessed fic. Reading just the first story is amusing, but you really need all four to appreciate the humor inherent in the line, "Unnoticed in the background, the Shol'va expired, having served his purpose."

The third story details the heroic deeds of the Mighty Symbiote in the nefarious case of the interloper, Jonas. As one can expect from an author with a, er, heightened appreciation of Daniel, Jonas does not fare well in this tale. The fourth story is a Season 9 story in which Cameron Mitchell joins the team and Janet is revived. Woo hoo!

The Furling Ambassador by Vicky Ocean (PG)

Rec Category: Crossover (The Cat from Outer Space)

Pairing: none
Category: Humor
Warning: none
Author on LJ: unknown
Author's Website: unknown

Summary: Jack meets the Furling Ambassador.

Why This Must Be Read: A 1978 Disney movie is an obscure crossover, admittedly, however this fic is short but sweet and plays along with the inevitable mental images that "Furling" = furry. Jack’s reaction is also pretty funny: "Well, it is a very snazzy collar. I like the blinky lights."

The Tale of Sleeping Brawny and the Galactic Adventurer Who Woke Him Up by ana_grrl (PG-13)

Rec Category: Cameron Mitchell
Pairing: mostly no pairing, but briefly-implied Cameron/Teal'c
Category: Humor
Warnings: mention of slash
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] ana_grrl
Author's Website: not known
Link: The Tale of Sleeping Brawny and the Galactic Adventurer Who Woke Him Up

Why This Must Be Read:

Utterly different from the other fic by [livejournal.com profile] ana_grrl I recced (Men of Action), this is SG-1 as written by S. Morgenstern (and William Goldman). This is charming, elegant and very, very silly. This is a fic in which Jack O'Neill as fairy godmother makes complete and total sense:

Oh please, don't act surprised. This is a fairy tale. Everything is golden and rosy, even the curses. Although, if you asked Daniel, he might tell you how most fairy tales – and nursery rhymes too – are a thin veil of fiction over morality warnings and dark undertones, but Daniel likes to talk too much, and we aren't going to ask him.
