Why this must be read:

Crossover with: Pirates of the Caribbean

SG1 and POTC make for a very hard fusion. And yet, Jae Kayelle accomplishes it with aplomb by not taking the crossover too seriously. The fic flows smoothly from Daniel playing around with another Ancient artifact, James Norrington appearing in his office, and then a trip to the Black Pearl to meet Jack Sparrow. I just adore the interaction of the two Jacks. Jae has got their characterizations down so well for a fun-filled crossover like this. I just adore this fic and know you will too!

Story Summary: there's this Ancient device, a curious scientist and a pirate ship

There was a low-pitched hum and, Jack swore, the tangy scent of sea water hit his nostrils, before the light grew in size and enveloped the entire room. When it cleared a man stood in front of them. He had the erect bearing of a military man, yet he was not wearing a uniform. He was, however, dressed in clothing that Jack vaguely recognized as being from an earlier century. He just wasn’t sure which one. This fellow was tall, nearly as tall as Jack himself, and he had green eyes that quickly covered up his startled look, turning to wariness. With the change in expression he suddenly had a sword in his hand and it looked like he knew how to use it. The point was a mere foot from Jack’s face and then it slowly swung over to include Daniel.

“Hey!” Jack engaged his protective mode and drew the guy’s attention back to himself. “Who are you?”

There was a slight hesitation before the guy replied in a haughty English accent, “James Norrington. Who are you?”

“Colonel Jack O’Neill. You’re on my territory and I don’t take kindly to strangers materializing and pointing swords at me and my friend.”

“M-materializing?”

Just going by Norrington’s look of confusion Jack took a leap of faith that he wasn’t going to give them any trouble. He slowly put his free hand out, palm down in a calming motion.

“Let’s put the weapons down and start over, okay?”
