Why This Must Be Read: Written recently for the

swficathon, Medie gives us an oustanding AU featuring John and Elizabeth as Ancients rather than humans. The story is split into two separate timelines, one featuring the doings of the Alterans before the end of their war with the Wraith, and the other dealing with the arrival of the Atlantis expedition in the abandoned city some ten thousand years later. Both characters are recognizable and their interactions in both timelines brings each group to life. The Ancients become real people instead of ultra-wise, distant beings, and John's Ancient persona and Rodney prove that some things just transcend differences. A wonderful one-shot.
