Why this must be read: It's a fun short story. WonkyElk always write in a whimsical, fun style. I especially like her Teyla in this and how she makes an impulsive decision to pretend she is dating Rodney to appease an Aunt-like character. I love how Rodney just decides to go along with it, with actually no context. John's jealous. It's a fun feelings admission story with a lot of chaos and silliness.

Author's Summary: The SGA team explore an icy planet, looking for a secret underground lab. It’s icy cold place and things go badly from the start. The team gets separated - McKay and Sheppard fall into a cave, while Ronon and Teyla need to deal with some troublesome characters.

Why this must be read: This story is strange and zany. It starts out as a whump fic with the challenge "F Ice" and it does make a caricature of the security force. NotTasha writes in the format of write 15 minutes at a time and to not worry where the story goes. So by the end, the story goes off the rails in the best ways. There is a singing mechanical duck creature that infuriates McKay with its singing. It was so much fun to just get to laugh and laugh with this story that started out so whumptastic.

Brennan helps Daniel with a mysterious sarcophagus, and, of course, the usual Daniel Jackson chaos happens. So Jack has to come in and make sure his archeologist is okay. The mystery is kind of cute, in the end, and Daniel and Brennan bond over their hockey-loving boyfriends.

Why This Must Be Read: John does something heroic again when Atlantis is in San Francisco harbour after season five. It should kill him, but, inexplicably, it doesn't. Afterwards, there's something increasingly wrong with his brain. This plays out medically and through hallucinations (or are they?) in which John encounters a series of dead friends (and a commanding officer), and is also kind of on trial, having to make a case as to whether he should be allowed to live or not. Along the way, John and Rodney also find each other. A tour de force - gripping, profound, and with wonderful characterisations of John and Rodney, in particular. Don't miss it.

Why This Must Be Read: This is the John Sheppard of The Storm/The Eye, in this story using cold ruthlessness to rescue Rodney from allies of the Genii. It's told entirely from the POV of an original female character, the wife of a powerful local man who's been complicit in capturing and torturing Rodney. John's taken her as a hostage to force Rodney's return, and we see the drama play out through her eyes. There's some great worldbuilding conveyed through her perspective, and her appraisal of John and Rodney is interesting. The bond between John and Rodney is intense but it's left unstated whether they're more than close friends and found family to each other. Beautifully written, gripping, and a great read, especially if you like a dark, fiercely competent John.

Why This Must Be Read: As Victoria Custer, LtLJ wrote higher-rated fics, and I'm especially fond of this one. There's some amnesia trope involved as John loses his memories and is partly transformed into an elf-like alien when he stumbles on a forgotten Ancient device off-world. In his new form he becomes the tribe's leader, with adventures fighting giant creatures in a huge alien forest, hunting, and sex with the lead female and the rest of the tribe. I love how fully John takes to this simpler, more free life. But as with all amnesia fics, he has to return to reality in the end, and his team and colleagues are desperate to retrieve him. A great mix of action/adventure, worldbuilding, uninhibited fun, and the bittersweetness of having to resume his responsibilities again.

But when military members are left to their own devices without any of the civilians there to stop them they do as any military member would do while trapped in port. They start ordering supplies and making contingency plans.

Why This Must Be Read:

I'm a sucker for 'stealing Atlantis and going back to Pegasus' and this is right on the nose.

To be honest, this is largely an SGA story but Jack O'Neill is a primary player in this plot, and I'm glad to be able to share this fun story with you.

This is one of 12 stories in a collection titled "Stargate Downfall of Earth Various AUs" but they are all independent, so you can try just one to see if you'd like to try more.

Why This Must Be Read: This is the first SGA story by puddlejumperpilot, and it’s equally hilarious and so hot, hot, HOT! Rodney and John are truly terrible at communicating, and puddlejumperpilot writes them so perfectly in character. We get wonderful manly, and of course very mature, talking... and more. It's especially delightful how Rodney wants to be “manhandled” and still gets bossy from the bottom. It’s gorgeous how John knows how to “handle his man”… and how to take Rodney—literally.
You really should give this adorable story a go. Enjoy!

They've survived it all, but they have scars, both physical and psychological, and this is very much hurt/comfort as John, Ronon, and Rodney take comfort in each other. As the title suggests, they've also developed a secret crop that helps them survive by trading it in the Pegasus markets. Interesting and evocative.

Why This Must Be Read: Continuing my "criminals/prison" theme. I do love a complete AU, and this is very hot. Rodney's a new cellmate for Ronon who's a nice guy even though his appearance freaks Rodney out initially, and then Rodney discovers Ronon has a boyfriend, John, who he sees on "shower day". It's John/Ronon with a side order of voyeuristic Rodney due to the circumstances, and everyone has a good time. I liked all the kissing, and the small worldbuilding details about their lives in prison.
