Comparing Scars by Cofax (G)

I've still got a rec or two to finish on Gen, but I'm neglecting my other category, Samantha Carter. Recs this month for Capt/Maj/Lt. Col/Dr. Carter will be gen related as well, because I'm all about the friendships and independance of our lovely leading lady, if not so much the romances.

Rec Category: Samantha Carter

Pairing: None (gen)
Characters: Sam Carter; Vala Mal Doran
Category: Character Study; Drama; Missing Scene
Warning: none

Why this should be read:

A short fic, but rich in characterization, it's Sam's first look at Vala as they prep for the mission in "Beachhead". [livejournal.com profile] cofax7 touches on the common back story of these two different characters in a thought provoking way. In fact, I like to think of this missing scene as a piece of canon that somehow got lost in the cutting room floor.

My favorite aspect of this fic is it makes Sam sound very "human", it's a side of Sam we don't often see when she's busy playing with naquadah, saving the world, and/or "blowing up suns".

No idea what inspired me to read these comments, as I don't tend to pay attention to such things in this comm--though no doubt the impulse was to applaud the rec, as it's an excellent one.

But anyway, I think the Ex-Hosts' Club story with Sam, Vala, and Sarah that you're referring to is mine: http://pellucid.livejournal.com/151898.html Unless someone else has written one as well, in which case I would most definitely want to read it!!!

Yes! That's precisely the fic. And, looking through the comments, I see that I failed to tell you precisely how awesome it is. *sigh*

That's an EXCELLENT story and the it plumbs the wonderful stories that Stargate is so good at creating but never exploring.

I'm awfully glad you read the comments on this one!
