Why This Must Be Read:
I've wanted to rec this series of 17 stories for a long time. Take Jack O'Neill, make him the head of a detective squad in the Chicago PD, add in Sam and Teal'c as detectives, Janet Fraiser as a CSI/coroner, and Daniel Jackson as a profiler from the FBI, and you have the makings of a great AU. There are 17 stories in this series and if you are like me, you will start with one and not stop until you've read them all. Not only are the characterizations spot on, the relationship between the characters is also true to the dynamic our SG-1 team shared. In the first story, Jack and his team are on the trail of a serial killer and outsider FBI profiler Daniel Jackson is brought in to help solve the mystery. There are all sorts of minor characters we didn't get to see enough of on the show who have their chances to shine throughout the series. There is also a sequel series called Another Year Together which is 12 stories long.
